Mercy High School recognizes the achievements of outstanding young women who place in the top most percentiles of their peers locally and nationally on the High School Placement Test. The following two Academic Scholarships are offered to 9th grade students for their Freshman year and may be renewed if the required GPA is maintained. Retakes are not permitted on the HSPT. The scholarships are awarded based on the first HSPT a student takes.
*It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians or student to submit the renewal application for consideration each year. Students are required to maintain a 3.75 or above cumulative GPA and attach a copy of their powerschool grades to the renewal application. President’s Scholarship – President’s Scholarship is awarded to students who score 95th thru 99th percentiles on the High School Placement Test. A $2,500 scholarship is awarded to an incoming 9th grade student for Freshman year. Scholarship may be renewed each school year by maintaining a 3.75 or above cumulative GPA.
Principal’s Scholarship – The Principal’s Scholarship is awarded to students who score in the 90th thru 94th percentiles on the High School Placement Test. A $1,500 scholarship is awarded to an incoming 9th grade student for Freshman year. Scholarship may be renewed each school year by maintaining a 3.75 or above cumulative GPA.
- The Admissions Office will notify recipients of the President’s and Principal’s Scholarship by mail.

- The increased scholarship amounts became effective for incoming 9th grade students beginning with the 2015-2016 school year. If you have received a President or Principals Scholarship in the past, you may renew for the dollar amount granted at the time of admission as long as the required GPA is maintained.

The Mary Jean Shannon Memorial Scholarship is a four-year grant established in Mary Jean’s memory through the McNish Foundation and will be available for the 2020-21 school year. She was very involved in numerous Mercy High School extracurricular activities, served as Student Council President and graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1950. This scholarship was established to help a young woman who otherwise is unable to gain access to the wonderful education that Mercy High School provides. In turn, it is the hope of the McNish Foundation to inspire a young woman at Mercy High School to be a ‘woman who makes a difference” just like Mary Jean Shannon who continued to serve others throughout her lifetime.
Criteria:365体育备用网站 Demonstrate need for financial assistance in order to attend Mercy High School; hold a minimum grade point average of 3.0; demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities or volunteer service. Preference is given to a student living in the City of Detroit.
The Mary Jean Shannon Memorial Scholarship is currently awarded and will be available for application for the 2021-22 school year. It is renewable if the student maintains the following criteria:
- A minimum of 3.0 grade point average
- Follows a college preparatory curriculum
- Demonstrates continued need for financial assistance in order to attend Mercy High School.
- Demonstrates involvement in the life of the school by the student and her parents or guardians.
- Demonstrates volunteer service to her school, church, or community.
- Provides the McNish Family Foundation Board semi-annual updates on her progress in school, including extra-curricular activities.

The Mary Gregory Memorial Scholarship Foundation (TMGMSF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was formed to find and support female individuals, driven by passion to reach out to those in need. With primary education being of extreme importance in developing young minds and the cost of that education increasing, TMGMSF will provide scholarships to deserving high school juniors and seniors who have proven academically and through community service, to be exemplary in developing themselves and in helping others. The TMGMSF Scholarship Program seeks to invest in those who are exemplary role models in their community and who have the initiative to fulfill their educational and community service goals. Join the Circle of Mercy
The Circle of Mercy is a group of people interested in helping make it possible for young women to attend Mercy High School by providing scholarships and . Their support may be structured as an endowed scholarship fully funded or funded over time. It can also take the form of a financial commitment over a specific period of time (usually 4 years or more), to be used for tuition assistance. This special group of donors will be acknowledged in a special section of our Annual Report. Donors who establish endowed scholarships or make a long-term commitment to financial assistance may be able to meet the specific student that they are sponsoring.
